Liss Community Choir helps raise funds for service

By Post in Community News

THE PETERSFIELD Counselling Service is very grateful to the Liss Community Choir who gave a concert and raised £750 for its work.

The counselling service offers affordable counselling to anyone aged 18 and over in the area needing help to talk through their difficulties with a confidential and professionally trained counsellor.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of its foundation and it has been providing more than 1,000 hours of counselling each year.

Anyone seeking counselling help from the Petersfield Counselling Service is invited to call 07833 966974.

The Liss Community Choir sang to a full church at St Mary’s, Liss.

Their programme included songs from My Fair Lady, Oliver, the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, and in response to rapturous applause the choir sang Top of the World as an Encore.

The choir was founded in 2011, and this year Margaret Gussman retired after conducting it for the past six years.

A generous presentation was made to her at the close of the concert.

Erica Kollek has been chosen to succeed her and is looking forward to starting rehearsals again in the autumn.

The choir meets on a Wednesday evening between 7.30pm and 9.30pm in Liss Infant School.
