PETERSFIELD Town Juniors’ girls section had a double win at the Pace Youth FC six-a-side football tournament last weekend.
Both Petersfield teams entered the event at Testwood Sports College in Totton, Southampton.
On Saturday, the under-11s girls football team, the Comets, coached and managed by Simon Sherwood, won their section of the tournament after a tense final and a penalty shoot-out.
After coming second in their group stages with wins against Winchester City and Pace Wildcats and without conceding a single goal, Petersfield went on to win their semi final against AFC Chamberlayne.
Petersfield then faced AFC Boscombe in the final.
The game ended 0-0 in normal time and was decided on penalties, with Petersfield winning 2-1. The winning team were: Clia, Erin, Grace, Hattie, Lily, Millie and Zahra.
Then, on Sunday, the under-13s girls football team, the Jets, managed by Yvonne Peters and coached by Nigel Yates and tournament coach Lily Peters, won their age group section.
After coming second in their group stages with one draw and several wins without conceding a goal, Petersfield went on to win their semi final against Southampton Saints 1-0.
The final was against AFC Boscombe, who were the league winners of the Winchester and District Football League. The match finished 1-1, and the game was then decided on penalties with Petersfield winning 2-0. The winning team were: Abbie, Amelia, Charlie, Jen, Jessica, Maddie, Meetu and Millie.
