For any purchase within the stores of any value customers will receive one token per transaction. There is no restriction on the number of times customers can vote.

The voting will be open until the end of June. The project with the highest number of votes across the region will receive up to £4,000, the second placed project up to £2,000 and the third placed project £1,000.

The cricket club are guaranteed to come at least third but with enough votes they will win and receive £4,000.

Bags of help is Tesco’s community grant scheme where the money raised from the 5p bag charge is being used to fund thousands of projects. Administration of the funding is being managed by the community charity Groundwork.

Club chairman James Stratford-Tuke said: “This is a tremendous opportunity.

“We give our sincere thanks to Tesco and Groundwork and supporters who have helped make this application possible. The future for the club is bright and the opportunity for all from five year olds to seniors to play cricket increases.

“The club is always looking for new members and volunteers, it is open to all members of the community.”
